Cheap DVDs

Posted:12 March, 2010 by admin

With the great influx of companies producing DVDs, a sudden decline has occurred in the cost of DVDs, mainly to beat the competition. This has led to an abundance of cheap DVDs in the market. Today, almost all the houses possess a DVD player and the demand of cheap DVDs has increased greatly.

Though low-priced, cheap DVDs have almost the same performance rate as the branded ones. Due to the unique design feature, DVDs can hold a large amount of data, seven times more than that of an ordinary CD. A full-length movie can be stored in a single DVD. Cheap DVDs of the latest movies and music albums are easily obtainable. Special effects of the movies can be watched on a DVD. DVDs of interactive games and instructional guides are available.

You can buy cheap DVDs from the DVD shop near your house. A wide selection of DVDs including audio DVDs, video DVDs, plain DVDs, and rewritable DVDs, which suits everyone’s budget, is available online. It is always wiser to ensure a secured credit card transaction before any online purchase.

With the innovation of new DVD copying techniques, the rate of getting cheap DVDs has been increasing enormously; the only drawback being that most of these are pirated versions. This has a negative impact on the film industry, because more people stay away from theaters

Even though the market is flooded with cheap DVDs, to find one worth your money is rather difficult. The chance to get cheated by a fake DVD is a potential risk. A routine performance check before buying DVDs is an ideal way of ensuring that the product you.

Discount Wood Flooring

Posted:12 March, 2010 by admin

Wood flooring is a very popular alternative to tiles or concrete flooring. Wood floors have a warm, inviting, exotic look. They are suitable for almost any kind of room: bedroom, living room, libraries, offices, etc. However, they are not preferred for the kitchen, bathrooms and other places where the humidity is higher since wood tends to rot and warp under humid conditions.

Wood flooring is no longer very expensive today. With advanced technology, it has become as affordable as any other kind of flooring. The most affordable kind of wood flooring is the discount wood flooring being offered by many companies worldwide.

These companies offer good quality, high-grade, branded wood flooring at very reasonable prices and discounts, sometimes as high as 70%. Most suppliers also give warranties on discount wood flooring.

Discount wood flooring is available in several varieties like birch, ash, maple, cherry, pear, walnut, plum, oak-stained white, bamboo, red oak, beech, mahogany, etc. They are also being designed with borders, medallions, motifs and other patterns for an interesting as well as customized look. Discount wood flooring is available in both unfinished and pre-finished versions.

There are certain things to be considered while selecting discount wood flooring: the budget, the kind of wood to be used, the style or design, the traffic in the place where the floor would be installed, the color of the walls and the rest of the furniture, the kind of maintenance that is required and so on. Other questions to be considered are how long the installation will take, if the contractor has a license and the warranties and guarantees. Some of the most popular manufacturers of wood flooring are: Armstrong, Pergo, Mannington, Stepco, Wilsonart, Florida Tile, American Olean and Daltile.

Information about discount wood flooring would be available at any of these manufacturers’ offices. The internet is also a very good source for learning more about discount wood floors.

i-WoodFlooring.com Wood Flooring provides detailed information about wood flooring, laminate wood flooring, hard wood flooring, engineered wood flooring and more. Wood Flooring is the sister site of i-Marble.com How To Clean Marble.

Tips on use:
- If the supplied ropes are not long enough, you can add additional rope to extend the reach. (You will need to know your knots to tie polypropylene rope together.)
- This saw will NOT successfully cut a 6 inch live oak limb without binding.
- This saw WILL cut dead oak limbs that size.
- The directions mention the use of ‘hand straps’ but they are not supplied. Wrapping the rope around your hands (even with gloves) is not fun. I created an eye splice at the end of the extended ropes. You might want to see what you can rig up to get a comfortable grip on the rope where you need it.
- I found that using a fishing pole with a practice weight (yellow rubber coating, which makes it easy to see) works very well to get a line over the limb. Then use the fishing reel to pull the saw line over the limb and get started.
- If it is cutting well, you will see the saw cutting into the sides of the limb from below.
- Plan your trimming to use lighting to your advantage. (Keep the sun to your back so you can see what you are doing.)
- To cut a 6 inch dead limb on an oak tree, takes about 400 strokes.

This saw fills a specific need. There a lot of easier ways to cut a limb, if you can reach it.

This may have been the best $40 or so dollars I ever spent. Not the greatest cutting saw, but for out of reach branches, it is a godsend. (I don’t like the Kids playing under dead branches) I have many dead branches from 20 - 60 feet up, and i was able to take them all down with this saw. I added rope to extend my reach on either end, and took down some crazy high branches. Keep you stroke smooth and even, and be patient. For the higher up branches, get a partner, adn stand about 15 feet apart, as the line get tangled (singlehanded) at about 40 feet or so. Some of the cuts are not perfect, but i estimate I saved about $700 over a tree service.

I actually used a slingshotm 1 oz fishing weight to get to the highest branches (told you it was fun). Pull a heavy test line over(wear gloves) then pull a medium line, then pull the saw lines.

My neighbors laughed, then askd to borrwo it when they saw the pile of branches I stacked.

One word of warning, If you are not smooth and measured, you can jam the blade, and lose the saw forever.

If you are cutting alone, tie loops in the rope, BUT DO NOT WRAP YOUR HANDS. when that branch comes down, you need to be out of the way (See neighbors laughing comment).

Get the longest blade you can, as you want to get maximum cut per stroke.

I easily cut several third-floor-level tree limbs with this. It takes a little finesse to use but it works as advertised. I think the people who were having trouble may have been cutting branches that were too thin. I learned while cutting the fallen limbs on the ground that at an acute angle the chain saw can get stuck. However, the weight of a large limb will break that small spot and bring it down.

Review date : 2008-07-27
The sw it’s self has performed in an excellent manner. The attached ropes will need to be replace after a few cuts.

Review date : 2008-07-17
After a violent storm, I had a branch hanging over my deck that was about 30-35 feet high. Tried the extension ladder. Tried the extending pruning saw. Couldn’t quite get the right angle. Even tried climbing the vine-covered tree until I realized that I’m not 14 anymore.
The Rope Chain-Saw worked exactly as billed. Little tricky to get the cutting side down, but with practice it worked great. I attached additional rope to either side, and it worked fine. Tossing the bean-bag that high and that accurately took 6 throws, but made me feel like "I still got it!"
Pros: cuts quickly, light weight, easy storage, good solution when nothing else works, reasonably simple to use.
Cons: There really aren’t any. If you want to be picky, you could say it takes practice to get the blade the right way down (took me about 4 minutes) and if the branch is up really high (above 30 feet) and amidst other branches, you’ll need a good, accurate arm.

Looking for a refreshed custom look in your bedroom? Do you like a particularly lush sensuous fabric…or perhaps a masculine leather headboard to set a strong mood? The new class of innovative easy-to-install and affordable headboard slipcovers make bedroom design makeovers a snap-of-the-fingers easy.

More Home Entertainment Choices - Surround Sound Headboards. With 500 cable channels pouring into multiple in-house hook-ups, and a dizzying range of land and now satellite radio choices plus millions of music CDs and DVD films, it’s no wonder that high fidelity and multimedia entertainment work their way into our bedrooms. Surround sound headboard designs simply extend the natural reach of film and music into our most private chambers.

* Sizing, Measurements And Speaker Wire Layouts. Analogous to a car’s dashboard and door sound system, the surround sound headboard speaker system features a number of custom sized cut-outs, matching the specific speaker model and size. Performance speaker wire “networks” the surround sound headboard “system”…with a trailer hook-up wire of around 20 feet length, which you can then connect to your bedroom multi-media system. What could be sweeter!

Slipcover Fabric Choices. No matter whether you have a standard size bed, queen size, king size or even a platform bed, you’ll draw on an artist’s palette of slipcover fabric colors…from light pastels to earth tones of green and brown to reds, lavender, black and every shade between.

* Gingham, Velour, Carpets. Textured fabric headboard design possibilities also include velour, Oriental carpet motifs, and many shades of leather slipcover finishes.

* Leather Slipcover. Leather king size headboard cover designs offer not only a highly textured and inviting décor choice, but also provide easy maintenance…a simple wipe clean to remove dust…and of course a leather slipcover long life expectancy.

* Upholstered Headboard Cover. A more finished, professional look…hard wearing akin to slipcover furniture fabric grades can be created with the many textured and variously hued upholstered headboard cover choices. Often, in order to achieve this “high end” designer look, you’ll need to hire a custom slipcover professional to take measurements or perhaps physically remove your headboard and then do the entire custom slipcover operation off site.

* Tufted Headboard. Another trim possibility includes combinations of padded headboard covers where a soft cushiony ½ inch padding foam can be installed, and then the outer surface finished in a wide range of fabric choices as a tufted headboard.

Range Of Headboard Slipcover Sizes To Match. Like Goldilocks arriving unexpectedly at the 3 Bears/ home…each bowl of porridge held some possibilities…getting the right one was just a matter of balance. The same rule applies to headboard slipcovers. Given the standard bed frame size, you can order a queen size headboard cover in virtually in fabric and trim combination…or if your bed is longer, order the king size bed headboard cover, noting the measurements for standard king vary to California king.

Making Your Own Full Size Headboard Cover. For people skilled in pattern-making and stitching, slipcover making in the convenience of your own home is a rewarding home project. Getting it right, or getting it wrong boils down to eye-for-detail concentration. Concern areas when slipcover making include the art of taking correct measurements…allowing for curved versus hard-line shapes…allowing for “pleats” in order to achieve a smooth even surface texture, especially at the corners or sides.

Bottom Line: Look into the new generation of designer headboard covers, and even the multi-media wave of surround sound headboard entertainment possibilities to add too your bedroom choice menu. Please go to the following links for up-to-date information.

The decision to remodel the kitchen is a decision thousands of home owners make each year. Change is one of the more common reasons that homeowners use for remodeling.
Without realizing it, you will enter your kitchen about eight times a day, on average. However, over time, your kitchen may become lack luster and won’t excite you anymore. If this sounds like you, you may be ready for a change. By remodeling your kitchen, not only will you get the change you are craving, but a sense of accomplishment as well.

The first thing you need to decide when remodeling your kitchen is to decide what it means to you. For instance, would you be happy with simply putting down new flooring, or maybe a couple of updated light fixtures would do the trick for you? But when you really get the bug, nothing will satisfy it short of redoing the whole room, floors, walls, counters, everything! The time and money spent on your kitchen remodel job is almost always worth it.

But, once the job is done, you may find there is something that isn’t quite right. Despite your best efforts, you have left something out. What could it be? You have new flooring, lighting, counter, sinks and counters. You’ve painted the walls and even put up new decorations. What have you overlooked?

The answer is appliances. If you change everything but the appliances, it’s like cleaning the bedroom but not making the bed. It just feels unfinished. After all, you can put hundreds if not thousands of dollars into your new kitchen, not to mention the hours of work, so, why would you not put in new appliances? It may be advisable to put it in your budget when doing your initial shopping, to give your kitchen a whole new look when you get it done.

A lot of home owners find that replacing the appliances is the update they are looking for. Instead of changing everything about the kitchen, try to envision what it would look like with a stove and refrigerator in another color or how about a stainless steel look to the kitchen? This could be a fun update to do as well, especially if your appliances are older. If you have the traditional top bottom freezer and fridge, how about a side by side model? How about fun features like ice and water in the door and pull out shelves. If it has been a while since you have looked at refrigerators, you are going to be amazed. The same goes with ovens and ranges. You can get ovens that you can program ahead of time so dinner is ready when you get home.

When it comes to replacing your appliances, be it the dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster, oven, microwave, or blender you will find that your choices are almost unlimited. Between the manufactures, models, features, colors and sizes, you will defiantly want to make sure you do your home work before you settle on one particular brand. The nice thing about having so many choices is that you will find something to match your décor.

As you can see, there are a number of ways to update your kitchen from a complete gut which would include all new flooring, paint and wall paper along with new counters and cabinets. Or your can make it a seemingly smaller job and replace your appliances. But do not let the idea that you are ‘just’ going to replace the appliances fool you. There is still plenty of home work to be done and decisions to be made.

The Real Estate market has been moving forward at a fast pace. This market has begun slowing down a bit. Homeowners now appear to be staying home and adding onto their current home.

The long term growth in this area has been 5%. Currently the rise in the first quarter of this year is 4.5%. Impressive to say the least. This represents spending of $155 billion more than the amount spent in the previous 12 months.

The frenzy in home buying is definitely slowing down. Normally the spending associated with purchasing a new home usually lags behind. David A Seiders, chairman of the home builders group, says “The run-up in home sales during the past five years will fuel remodeling growth in the next several years, and the long-term growth looks very solid as well.”

This trend will provide more jobs in the home remodeling industry, including those entrepreneurs in the market place. The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Chicago seemed to indicate the growth seems to be in the upper end of the market. Big ticket manufacturers report 20 to 25 percent increase in the sales for the first quarter of 2006.

Many new products debut at the Kitchen and Bath Shows and May’s National Hardware Shows. Consumers are sure to find what fits their needs.

Another trend in the market place is using Glass Block to decorate the indoor and outdoor areas of homes and businesses. Glass block has been used in showers and windows for bathrooms in higher priced housing. Home owners are only limited by their imagination when considering this durable material.

Homeowners are not limited in finding new ways to remodel their homes. Changing cabinets, adding lighting, updating bathrooms can definitely improve the value and comfort of a home.

Media Extenders and the Wired (or Wireless) Home

Posted:11 March, 2010 by admin

If you’ve been online reading lately about digital home entertainment equipment, a phrase that you may be seeing more frequently is “media extender”. This refers to a device that essentially “extends” the reach of another media source such as a DVD player.

The more common usage of this term is describing a Media Center Extender, which refers to a device that lets you stream features from a PC that is running Windows Media Center 2005 to other devices such as televisions, radios, and personal audio players.

These “Media Center Extender” boxes essentially serve to let you make use of some Media Center PC functions directly on your television rather than having to run to a different room in order to set a video playing on a display screen downstairs as previous, more primitive “media throwers” or other makeshift solutions permitted.

The most famous Media Center Extender that is presently available is certainly the highly touted Xbox 360. Microsoft’s latest foray into the world of console gaming systems is now capable of interfacing with a Media Center PC to provide room-to-room entertainment via either a 100 Megabit wired home network or a wireless one, such as 802.11b or other standards. It cannot send media in reverse, however (from the Xbox 360 to the Media Center PC), which is still a very rare feature among media extenders of any kind due to copyright and other concerns.

Summarily, if you have a Media Center PC with an extensive library of legally-obtained music, video, and other media on this computer, you certainly may have a use for the Xbox 360’s Media Center Extender capabilities, or for one of the other media extenders on the market (offered by LinkSys and other tech manufacturers).

If you’ve been looking for an effective way to bring digital media to each room of your house without having to burn and re-burn CDs and DVDs, media extenders may be the brand new technology for your wired (or wireless) home!

After using this product for a couple of projects, I have to say it’s just been awesome. Feels very well built, comfortable grip, and the 2 amps gives it alot of cutting power(for small projects). But wear eye protection when using any power tools. I already shattered a cutting disk with this. Make sure to let the tool do the cutting, not the force of your hand. I hope this thing lasts because it’s been great so far.

But hey f it breaks I could buy another one and the price of both would still be cheaper than a good dremel!

Review date : 2008-08-07
I haven’t used this on any projects yet, but it does seem promising. It has a rigid feel to it and the price is ideal. I haven’t used a Dremel brand rotary tool so I can’t really compare.

The only negative thing I have to say about this is that the collet nut is pretty hard to loosen once it’s tightened. However, I found that putting the wrench against one of the fan blades made it easier to loosen. Probably not a good thing to do, but it does work.

Amazon doesn’t include a list of the accessories, but it’s not their fault. It doesn’t even say on the box itself. For those wondering what this comes with:

Rotary Tool - 1
Carrying Case - 1
Woodworking Clamps - 2
Wrench/Flathead Screwdriver - 1
1/8" Standard Mandrel - 1
Sanding Drum Mandrel - 1
Rubber Polishing Wheel (Coarse) (Brown) - 1
Aluminum Oxide Stone Bullet (Brick) (For Grinding) - 1
Diamond Point (For Engraving) - 1
Heavy Duty Cut-Off Discs - 20
Sanding Band (Coarse) - 3
Sanding Band (Fine) - 2

I am in the process of changing grout colors in my bathroom which involves removing all of the old grout first. I’ve burned through 4 dremels so far, they just can’t take the workout. I ordered this in the hopes that the 2 amp motor would have more power and be able to handle the job. So far, I’m extremely impressed. It powers through the grout like it was butter, and shows no signs of slowing down. Far better than the dremel. If you have a heavy-duty task to complete, this is definitely the machine for it. It doesn’t come with a lot of accessories, but after throwing away 2 dremels (I was able to return the others) I have plenty of them.

Review date : 2008-07-10

This is one of those fantastic tools that you never knew you needed. A knock-off of the more expensive dremel motor tool with little to be found wanting.

What’s hot -

Precision sanding, grinding and cutting.

For the carpenter:

- a great way to make adjustments to mortices, thresholds and other precision details

For the plumber:

- De-burring copper tubing, removing jammed ferrules, reworking tiles or cultured marble to allow access to shower valves, trimming escutcheons etc.

For the contractor:

- A nice way to mark your tools such that their provenance may be proven.

For the hobbyist:

- The perfect power tool for most detail work. (plastic, wood, and brass)

What’s not -

Comes in a somewhat flimsy kit. A proper, carrying case to hold add-ons would be ideal.
The cutting wheels are very delicate and have a tendency to shatter.

I got this as a birthday gift this year, and I absolutely love it! It’s got plenty of power, and since it can use all the Dremel accessories, it’s got nearly infinite usage possibilities.

I thought I might use it on occasion for a task here and there, but I’ve wound up using it far more. Now I’ve got sharp tools, sharp mower blades, corrosion free battery terminals on my mower and lots more.

It’s every bit the tool that a Dremel is at a fraction of the price. The case is a little flimsy, but that’s hardly a reason to pass on this great tool.

Improving Bathrooms The Specifics

Posted:11 March, 2010 by admin

One of the best ways to increase the value of your home is to improve the bathrooms. Here?s a primer on things to consider.

Sinks

Villeroy and Boch makes a sink that mimics a boulder worn into a bowl by water flowing into it. It can be quite handsome in a minimalist home or a rustic one. You can see it and others at villeroy-boch.com.

Concrete Jungle makes some dramatically simple concrete sinks and vanities that surprisingly look very modern, or very farm-house. Check concretejungleonline.com if that idea appeals.

Walker Zanger?s designs include a perfectly simple sink in white marble for a dressier look. They also have a sturdy dark wooden ?table? base that gives it dramatic contrast. You might enjoy visiting walkerzanger.com for more ideas.

Showers

A shower separate from the tub is one of today?s favorite luxuries. Some of them have been designed to feel like rain (at least part of the time). Dornbracht has one called ?RainSky M? which can be checked out at dornbracht.com.

Large frameless (or nearly frameless) glass shower enclosures are showing up in more and more homes. MAAX makes a line of showers with features like overhead ?waterfall? systems, hand held shower heads, and body sprays coming from the side that work well in a frameless enclosure.

I helped a family sell a home with a very interesting master bath not too long ago. It had a shower much like the one described above, but it was designed for two people. It looked like a glass room ?floating? inside the large bathroom.

Tubs

As for tubs. Well. Would you believe a tub in an arched tile niche with a gas log fireplace at its foot? Believe it. Can you imagine a nice long soak while listening to flute music and sipping chilled champagne? (James Bond can keep his martini.)

Then there are the Acryline tubs which employ warm air hydro-massage to counter the effects of the daily rush-grab-dash of life. Explore their therapy theory at acrylineusa.com.

You get the idea. Updated means simple. It does not mean blah. It does mean coddled. It can give you and your family pleasure and comfort while you live in your home. It can increase your home?s sale value. You?ll be tempted, but don? overbuild your neighborhood with the Taj Mahal of bathrooms if you want to be pleased with the result when you sell.
