Using Horsey Murals To Decorate Your Home

Posted:30 August, 2006 by admin

There are several ways to create ornate and admirable murals on any wall in your home. It really depends on what you’re looking for in the mural itself. Some people choose to pay a local artist to come in and paint the wall for them. However, this is probably the most expensive and time intensive option – although at least you won’t be the person expending their time in this case.

Another solution is to purchase ready-made wall murals that can be put up like wallpaper. There are wall murals available for just about anything you can imagine - including horses of course! These pre-fabricated murals can be expensive and they don’t leave a whole lot of room for creativity - it’s pretty hard to add your own individual touch to these designs.

One thing that you can do, however, if you’re looking to get a horse mural in one of your rooms is to look for a horse mural to paint. There are several mural kits out there that you can choose from. With these murals, you will be taking different pictures that have been put together and choosing where you want them to go. These kits are similar to stencils, though they are a bit more intensive, and there is more that you can do with them.

If you do buy one of these DIY murals then you’ll be able to mix it up as much as you like and really add your own touch to it. You could switch out colors or even change entire portions of the picture itself. If you don’t want to change the mural from the one that you purchased, then you can also just follow the instructions in the kit and end up with a great wall mural that you have created by yourself.

You’ll find that most of these murals are easy enough to assemble. All that you need to do is to put take out the individual parts of the mural, and figure out how you want to piece them together. Usually there will be an example picture that you use as a guide. You shouldn’t feel constrained, however, to put all of the mural pieces in the same place if there is more than one horse or animal in the kit.

The next step is just to tape up the design on the wall (some mural kits also work well if you use some sort of a projector setup). Then, you should trace the design onto the wall with something that is dark enough to see – but light enough so that it won’t show up after you paint.

Now just start painting. The mural kits usually come with some colors but again mix this up too - if you feel like totally changing them then do so. If you’re going to spend personal time painting this mural then you might as well have some fun doing it!

If you don’t want to do to the expense of buying a mural kit you can can always just paint your own mural on the wall. If you’ve never painted a mural before though it might be a good idea to purchase a mural kit online - at least to give you the base picture to work around. Over time and with plenty of experience you can do away with the mural kits altogether.

So why not add that much wanted horse mural to your walls today? Go on…. it’s not that hard!
